Week 12: Experiencing God
Experiencing God in Your Daily Life
It’s the 12th and final week of my online Bible study group. Here are some of the things I took away from the twelfth week.
My Thoughts:
Day 4 of unit 11. I did day 3 yesterday and I felt so good getting back into it after a week or so off.
It’s Sunday evening and I made sure that I did my lesson before getting ready for bed. I had a night shift so I couldn’t do it in the morning, but now I’m starting to consider bringing my Bible to work with me to read on my break.
This lesson saw me spending a lot of time in prayer, asking God to analyse me and reveal who I really am and what needs to be reprioritised. I think I’m ready to restart my media fast.
It’s Monday and yes, I did my lesson but also, I have started my media fast once again. I am sticking to the same rules from the first time and have arrived with new determination because the results of going back were actually devastating (but I will share that in my media fast review post).
Even though I currently feel more on fire for God, I know that I cannot rely on this feeling and have to actually put things in place that makes discipline that much easier. I’ve set a reoccurring alarm for Wednesday evening so that I will remember to attend prayer meeting each week.
I’m actually looking forward to starting unit 12 tomorrow as it’s all about daily relationship.
I’m on Unit 12. It’s so strange the day previous I was so excited but when it came to the time, I was so distracted.
Today’s lesson was called Returning to God, which I would say is a good title and a good reminder. It was nice to know that even the most dedicated person can lose their intimacy with God if they’re not careful. I know sometimes you are so on fire and other times it’s a real struggle. It can feel like this is just your experience but you are not alone and that God is waiting for us to come back. The just man falls 7 times, but he gets back up again.
So after a few weeks off, I have finally brought myself to get to the next lesson. It turns out that this lessons and tomorrows are topics that don’t relate to me at all. I could use the days to pray and review my lessons, but I’ve decided to read them anyway and answer what I can. Either way, I think they’re interesting to learn about whether I can directly apply it to my life now, or just see how it plays out in others.
The lesson today was about marriage and there were some interesting parts there. How it’s not just coincidence that God brought a couple together; He has a kingdom purpose behind it. Also learning the depths of oneness such as if God speaks to one, that’s His message for both. I quite like this collaborativeness to it all and understand it more. Yes, it’s fun to be with someone you love and consider your best friend, but if both are going opposite directions, it’s better to just remain friends (This is just my roundup takeaway and my opinion of what I read).
Day 3, today was all about children. I have no kids but I found that I could not only see what I would and should do if I have kids, but also see what my parents have or haven’t done. It was really interesting.
My main takeaway other than asking God-centred questions and looking for His movement, was that we are all created with a purpose. I want to make sure I walk in the purpose that I was created for. There are no accidents in God’s creation and that’s the most beautiful truth.
It’s day 4 and I had the best morning! I learned that I shouldn’t be afraid of anyone to share the truth of God’s love, in a loving way. I need not be afraid of how others will perceive me because of it. I truly want to have a heart for the people Christ died to save.
It’s finally the end! What a journey it’s been. I spent a good 30 mins or so reflecting on all the points that God revealed to me from day one all the way until the end of the book. I typed them into a document to print and put in places so I can be reminded of my commitments to Him and ask for His help.
I am so glad the book is complete, but I know it’s just one chapter in my journey walking with God and I’m looking forward to seeing what comes next, as I daily try to stay in His presence.
Thank you for following along and if you would be interested in being a part of the next study group, please leave a comment or send me a message! I’m looking to do this again with a group.
