Study The Bible Cover To Cover Before The End of The Year

I have a had a journaling Bible for 6 years now and I am gutted to report that only a quarter of it has any notes or underlinings in it. Yes, I haven’t studied the whole thing. I received a stunning KJV journaling Bible for my birthday in 2020 by my dad. It was, and still is the best birthday present I’ve ever received. I enjoyed writing my little notes and prayers but overtime I ended up trailing off and eventually ceased taking it around with me when I went to Church.

I’ve decided to rectify this and set myself the goal of studying it cover to cover in correlation with Ellen G White’s Spirit of Prophecy series. This is so I can have a clearer understanding and background context of each chapter I’m studying, as well as see how certain things apply to today and the future.

A few days after I had made the decision, I came across an article from a creator saying that they found a plan to help them read the Bible in one month but in chronological order. It sounded so amazing! I immediately scoured online to see if I could find a similar plan and adjusted the dates and decorated it a little. I was so ready!

The next day I began reading Genesis. I read about 5 chapters before I flicked forward and realised that I didn’t want to simply read the bible. I definitely wanted to study it. I still wanted to go cover to cover in a short time frame though and the only plan I had to follow was an adapted version of correlated bible readings. It was broken into 4 sections and each section would take a year to complete. Well, that was just out of my timeframe. I immediately counted the amount of days I had left until the end of the year and divided it by how many days were in each section of the reading plan. Ok, so if I’m to finish all this before the end of the year, I will have to read 7 days worth of the plan every day. That’s pretty doable if I’m intentional with my time.

I made a timetable so I can keep track and printed it to keep where I normally read and study.

So far I’ve completed Genesis and Job and now I’m nearly midway through Exodus.

Doing this has seen me studying for 5-8 hours each day. I let myself cut that time down during the Sabbath hours just because I have a load of other materials I want to read, but for the most part, the Bible is front and center in my life and I’m loving it!

I will say that I will be missing out on 2 thirds of blessings if what I’m learning is not being heeded and applied to my life. If I am not praying bout what I’m studying, asking God what He wants one to see and apply, then it’s just become a reading book to me and I don’t want that. I want it to change my heart, mind and life.
