How I Destroyed My Art Career

P.S. It was the right thing to do.

I was a full time artist for 2 and a bit years, making paintings and consistently posting online on all different social media accounts. I had several art pieces and videos go viral before I deleted everything due to burn out, overwhelm and a loss of direction.

I’m in the in between now where I know I want to get back into painting and drawing but I’m not quite sure how that looks just yet.

I used to be the person that would jump on head first and just do it no matter what, but now I want to take the time to actually plan before I move ahead so I don’t do anything I’ll later regret.

A small part of me feels annoyed at myself for ridding myself of my past; of the millions of views and followers I was getting, but the bigget part of me knows how empty I felt when I had that anyway, so why do I feel that regret?

Maybe it’s not knowing where I could have ended up or all the doors I closed without knowing.

I am glad though because I put so much of myself online and gave away so much of me that I didn’t even realise so now I get to reset.

The one thing that’s good though is that I do have the know how and the skills to be able to restart. I know what worked and what didn’t, what burns me out and what I enjoy and don’t enjoy. I also know that I will be keeping a lot of my energy and focus on my own site and growing my space here. Now I can recreate everything and build something different.

This is the start of that something different. Welcome to the new and improved, Nadine E.E. Hamilton!
