I Quit My Phone & Went To Paris For A Week
I went to Paris on a holiday for a few days. It was an experience to say the least. I learned a lot of things from my trip; both good and bad, but one of the biggest takeaways that lean towards the positive was that I was too busy living to even look at my phone properly.
When I returned home, I had a huge stream of messages that required my attention… well, it turned out that they didn’t quite require my attention immediately.
As I write this draft, the song Lost Track of Time by MTNS had just come on almost as if to explain exactly what I was trying to write.
My days were filled with walking and seeing. It was so beautiful to be in the moment. To not know what date or time it was. To not know what everyone was up to. To not be absorbed in taking the “right” photos and sending them straight away to people back home to say ‘look where I am.’
Though I wasn’t reading my emails or checking my messages, I did get back into capturing little video clips of my day to collate into a vlog of some kind. I’m still experimenting with my video style so thought, why not get in some practice whilst capturing things I most likely will never see again? (Because when will I go back to Paris?)
I think I will do a solo trip to Paris one day to erase my bad memories and replace them with some new, good ones. One things I won’t be replacing is constantly checking my messages or emails. I’m thankful to Paris for that at least.
