Week 3: Experiencing God
God Pursues a Love Relationship
It’s week 3 of my online Bible study group. Here are some of the things I took away from the third week.
My Thoughts:
This week started off strong with the main question of day 1 being: can I confidently say I love God with my entire being with no hesitation; nothing held back. I believe the answer to this question has the power to change the direction of ones life dramatically and something I want to reflect on each new day I’m blessed with.
Instead of doing day 3 today, I did day 4 because day 3 requires a prayer walk which I didn’t prepare for, so I will do it on a different day this week.
Today I went over again how God takes the initiative. I felt really encouraged after reading Romans 3:10-12 which says “There is no one righteous, not even one; there is no one who understands, no one who seeks God. All have turned away, they have together become worthless; there is no one who does good, not even one.”
I used to get particularly sad when in my heart I wanted to spend time with God but getting myself to come into His presence seemed like a foreign concept. It was reinforced in my mind last week just how opposite our flesh is to spiritual things. It is not in our sinful nature to want God so that’s why I am ever so thankful that He takes the initiative to reach out to me first because if He didn’t, I never would (because of sin).
Day 5 was the most profound day of my whole study experience so far. Most times I hear God’s voice in times of crisis, but today I heard His voice in the quiet moments of my own study and reflection.
It seems that the message He brought to me today was the same message that I had been hearing since the first week of this study. It’s just that today it actually made sense.
He had been making me aware of the adjustments I needed to make in my life in order to continue to follow Him, but it was one that my heart wasn’t ready to make until today. Although it’s still a battle, it’s one I am actually more willing and open for His help in order to make.
Just knowing that I prayed before I started, asking for His guidance, and He answered straight away. Even when I’m not doing everything I know I should be doing, He’s still there and He hasn’t given up on me. That made me so so happy and I feel like I could jump all around.
The Meeting:
No one attended the meeting this week but I still used the time for reflection.
